DIY Michael Jackson Halloween Costumes

Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post.

My family LOVES Michael Jackson and decided to each be a Michael from different videos for Halloween. I researched some costumes online and they seemed expensive but not very well made so I decided to make all 5 of our costumes by myself!

Here is how I did it:

Michael Jackson BAD

Materials:

  • Black “leather” like jacket
  • black pants
  • red felt
  • 2 black belts
  • 3 black zippers
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun
  • penny loafers
  • silver chain or chain belt
  • black thermal shirt
  • white socks

To recreate this Michael Jackson look, I cut up the black belts and attached the pieces and buckles to the jacket, then I glued the zippers along the pockets and to one of the jacket sleeves. For the pants, I cut a rectangle of red felt and attached it to one of the pants legs. Then I attached pieces of the belt and pieces of the chain/chain belt.

To complete the look, I paired the jacket and pants with a black thermal shirt, white socks and black penny loafers!

Michael Jackson Beat It

Materials:

  • red/black track suit
  • shimmery material
  • 6 red zippers
  • hot glue gun
  • scissors

To recreate this Michael Jackson look, I trimmed the red zippers and used a hot glue gun to attach them to the jacket. Then, I cut the shimmery material to fit the space by the shoulders and attached them using hot glue.

To complete this look I put a “vintage” graphic tee under the jacket.

Michael Jackson Smooth Criminal

  • button up shirt
  • tie
  • safety pins

I had a light colored pants suit in my closet and decided to use it for my costume. I wrapped the piece of felt around the right sleeve and used safety pins to secure it. I borrowed one of hubby’s button-up shirts and tie to complete the look.

Michael Jackson Rock With You
