For my monthly girls night out with my bestie, we saw Amelie on Broadway. Although, I was not familiar with the foreign film, my bestie assured me that it was an artsy film and I would probably like the show.

I had no idea what to expect when the curtain rose and the audience was introduced to young Amelie (Phillipa Sosa) and her kooky parents. We witness her extremely sheltered childhood and the tragic incident that left her without a mother to the start of her adult life where she moves out on her own to experience more of the world.

Amelie has a vivid imagination from childhood which continues to serve as her “happy place” through her adulthood. Amelie’s series of life experiences are somewhat comedic but serve as learning experiences for all involved, especially when she takes on the role of a magnanimous person whose goal is to help all this in need.
