The original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie is my all time favorite movie from childhood: my little ones have watched it with me dozens of times and have grown to love it too! We have also read the Roald Dahl book together and have added the remake movies our collection. So, when I heard that the story was going to be adapted to a Broadway show…I knew it would be something we would have to see!
We were invited to a fun afternoon hosted by The Moms with Dylan’s Candy Bar and Charlie on Broadway to be one of the first to participate in the Pure Imagination Experience which is one of the Broadway’s Golden Ticket packages that combine a fun filled Dylan’s Candy Bar experience with tickets to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Broadway!
Tristan Reeses can’t resist adding a couple Conversation Hearts to his candy tin!
The Pure Imagination Package (only available at the 3rd Avenue Dylan’s Candy Bar location) was 60 minutes filled with a candy tour, candy tastings, candy trivia & a candy spree which ended with reservations at the cafe where everyone enjoyed a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Chocolate River Sundae!

The boys couldn’t decide on which candies to choose during their Candy Spree: they decided on some of their favorites as well as adding quite a few candies that were new to them to try out. And they each added a few of mommies favorites to their candy tins!
The Wonka Empori-yum was full of sweet treats for children and adults!
Before settling into our seats at the Lunt Fontanne Theater to see Charlie on Broadway, we checked out the Wonka Empori-yum which was filled with sweet treats for every age! I picked up a cotton candy flavored adult drink called “The Candy Man” which was simply Scrumdiddlyumptious!
The curtains rose and the show began…my boys and I were totally engaged and engrossed in the storyline from the first scene till the standing ovation! Charlie on Broadway is the perfect mixture of the original and the remake movies with its very own spin including fun new songs. And even though we knew the basic plot of the story, seeing it all unfold live on stage was truly special and brought all of our imaginations alive. The oompa-loompas stole the show each and every time they appeared on stage; singing, dancing and taking care of the unfortunate Golden Ticket winners who didn’t follow directions.
The boys had the opportunity to meet Charlie Bucket (played by Ryan Foust)
Treat yourself and your little ones to experience one of Broadway’s Golden Ticket packages for a really SWEET time at Dylan’s Candy Bar and to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! It really was fun for everyone and appropriate for little ones of all ages!
