Winter Family Fun at NYBG

Just because it is winter in the city, doesn’t mean you and your family can’t get out and enjoy nature! We visited the New York Botanic gardens and enjoyed exploring the winter wonderland.
First, we took a guided narrated tour of the grounds on the trolley.
There are a number of activities to participate in at the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden. Inside the center, we learned about cones and we had the opportunity to examine them up close.
My boys had the opportunity to make their own door swag by choosing different types of evergreen conifers.
And they created a herbarium where they began a study of Juniper.
Back outdoors, the gardens were open and the boys explored, pointing out various evergreen cones and animals.
Wintertime is a great time to wander through NYBG, participate in some hands-on activities and explore nature with the whole family. Check the NYBG website for upcoming events!
