Pi day is celebrated on 3/14 in honor of the constant number in Mathematics (the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter). To celebrate we created a Pi Pie Puzzle showing just some of the digits of pi!

DIY Pi Pie Puzzle

  • 2 different colored paper plates of the same size
  • ruler
  • marker
  • scissors

Use a ruler to separate one of the plates into even triangles. We made eight equal parts but you can make more or less depending on how many pieces you want your puzzle to have.

Write the digits of PI on the paper plate you divided starting with “3.” on one of the pieces. Since we had eight pieces we used the digits “3.1415926”. Secure the “3.” triangle piece to the other plate using glue.

Cut out the other triangle digits using a scissors and arrange them in order on the other plate. Take them off, mix them u and try it again and again!
