Bucket of Kinetic Play Dirt Special Forces and a Geography Lesson

My boys would absolutely LOVE to play in dirt but we live in New York City and there is no telling what is in city dirt. I don’t want to deprive them of this fun childhood activity, so we decided to compromise by using some Play Dirt (ages 3+) which is very similar to kinetic sand in texture.

The Play Dirt Special Forces bucket comes with 16 army soldiers (half of which is a different color), two rock molds and 1.5 pounds of kinetic dirt. We were not just going to play with the dirt…we were going to incorporate some geography too!

Two of my sons decided to have an epic battle for the world! They each took a placemat to play on: one took the “World Map” and the other used the Painless Learning “Flags of the World” placemat. We split the kinetic dirt in half and the boys set up their battle grounds.

They each decided on a country that they would be representing and located its flag. Then they began their battle, using the rock molds to create walls and even hid soldiers in the play dirt. I especially love that this dirt is safe, non-toxic, mess free, germ free, easy to mold, can be reused, easy to store in its bucket. It truly is It is the “Cleanest Dirt on Planet Earth!
