The holiday season is time to celebrate with friends, family and co-workers which usually will include a toast with a delicious cocktail. I love Jam Jar wines, the Sweet Shiraz is one of my favorite wines to sip on and make my amazing sangria! I was pretty excited to partner with them to try and share some simple yet yummy cocktails made with the Jam Jar Sweet White wine. The sweet white is a moscato that offers flavors of peach, apricot, lychee and orange blossom.

I love a good mulled mine, especially as the weather gets colder, it’s great as an after-work drink or perfect to serve at a holiday dinner, plus it is super easy to make. I made some Jam Jar Sweet White Mulled Wine for our family holiday diner and it was a hit!

This simple cocktail recipe calls for a couple spices that you probably already have in your cabinet: cinnamon, ground ginger, nutmeg, while cloves and star anise. Gather al the ingredients and you will be toasting in about 20 minutes!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 bottle of Jam Jar Sweet White wine
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 whole star anise
  • 1 large orange, quartered
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Additional cinnamon sticks for garnish

METHOD:

In a medium sauce pan, combine water, nutmeg, ginger, star anise and 1 cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low and simmer. Squeeze the juice from the orange quarters into the simmering water. Push 2 cloves into each orange quarter and place in simmering water for 5 minutes, then remove orange/cloves. Pour in Sweet White and heat until steaming for 10 minutes. Remove the remaining star anise and cinnamon stick. Pour into mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick. Makes about 6-8 servings.
