Diwali Lantern Craft Using Fall Leaves

Diwali is the five day festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists. It is India’s biggest and most important holiday of the year!

How do you make a Diwali Lantern?

We made this lantern using Fall leaves, laminating sheets, a Scotch Brand thermal laminator, a glue gun and popsicle sticks, a Sharpie, ruler, flameless tea light and scissors.

We collected colorful Fall leaves and let them dry out completely. Next, we used a ruler and Sharpie to draw ;ines on a laminating sheet to create 4 quadrants (1 for each leaf). Be sure that the leaf/leaves will fit inside each rectangle without crossing the line.

Secure the leaves in the laminating sheet and feed the sheet into the Scotch thermal laminating machine. Then, cut the quadrants out along the lines, using a pair of scissors.

Use the hot glue gun to attach 4 craft popsicle sticks to each quadrant, you should use 16 all together. Then use the hot glue gun to assemble the lantern and secure the quadrants to one another. Let dry completely, then add a flameless tea light!
