After watching Jungle Cruise several times, we decided we wanted to create a “treasure” map of the area we live in using homemade invisible ink using items from the kitchen!
Materials:
- 1 tbs baking soda
- 2 tbs water
- printed map of your area
- 1 tsp rubbling alcohol
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- paint brush
- small containers
Print out your map and decide where you are going to create your “treasure” path. Next, mix together 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of water. Stir and use your paint brush to paint a path. Let it dry completely.
To uncover the invisible ink message: mix equal parts of rubbing alcohol and ground turmeric (1 tsp of each) in a small container. Lightly dip the brush in this mixture and paint the map lightly to uncover the hidden path/message!
